The Gifted wins top honors in Future Vision XPRIZE competition

Earlier this year, a collaboration between XPRIZE and Range Media Partners led to the launch of the Future Vision XPRIZE, a global contest aimed at showcasing films that depict a hopeful future enhanced by technology. Last week, the grand prize was awarded in Los Angeles to independent filmmaker Jeff Synthesized for his work on The Gifted.

The film takes inspiration from a personal story and follows an 11-year-old boy who, driven by love, uses code to recreate the voice and presence of his late mother. This creation becomes a quiet but supportive presence across the town’s networks, embodying the filmmaker’s view that technology holds the greatest potential when it fosters empathy and human connection.

Chosen from over 2,500 entries from around the globe, this solo-developed project has earned a $100,000 prize, as well as $2.5 million in funding for feature production. Through Google’s 100 ZEROS initiative, there is a collaboration with Range Media Partners to assist in bringing this film to the big screen.
