Leagues Cup begins tomorrow, August 4, on Apple TV
The Leagues Cup kicks off tomorrow, August 4, streaming live on Apple TV. This tournament, which highlights the rivalry between Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX, is expanding to include matches in Mexico for the first time. Every game will be available to Apple TV subscribers across more than 100 countries and regions.
This year marks an exciting continuation of soccer’s growing popularity in North America. The Leagues Cup, sanctioned by Concacaf, features 18 clubs from each of MLS and Liga MX. The competition consists of 62 matches, all accessible through Apple TV.
Now in its fourth edition, the annual tournament will again see clubs from both leagues compete in a format ensuring interleague contests until the quarterfinals. Notably, this year introduces four Phase One matches in Mexico.
Teams in the tournament compete for the Leagues Cup trophy, with the top three finishers earning spots in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. The champion will receive a direct entry into the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16, potentially leading to participation in FIFA’s international club competitions, such as the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Seattle Sounders, the current Leagues Cup titleholders, will start their defense against the reigning Concacaf Champions Cup winner, Toluca FC, on August 5 at 7 p.m. PT at Estadio Nemesio Díez. The Sounders secured their first Leagues Cup victory in 2025 by defeating Inter Miami CF 3-0 in the final. The 2026 tournament is set to feature global stars like Antoine Griezmann (Orlando City SC), Robert Lewandowski (Chicago Fire), and Casemiro (Inter Miami CF), following his third FIFA World Cup appearance.
