IND vs ENG: Axar-Ashwin duo helped India to win the fourth match by an inning and 25 runs and series by 3-1

The fourth and final match of the India-England Test series was under the dominance of the hosts from Day 1, but the brilliant bowling performances of Ravi Ashwin and Axar Patel throughout the series were a treat to watch. With this win, India won the series against the visitors as well as got tickets to the ICC World Test Championship.

Ashwin and Axar both picked a five-wicket haul in the second inning of England and sent back the whole England squad for 135 runs. India scored 365 runs in their first inning with a brilliant hundred of wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. He also won the man of the match for his 101 runs knock. Washington Sundar again missed his maiden century just by 4 runs as no one helped him from another end.

Sundar played the knock of unbeaten 96 runs in the first inning for India after the early losses. Axar Patel also played an inning of 43 runs in the match.

India won the series against the visitors by 3-1. After losing the first match by 217 runs, the hosts strike back and defeated England in all three matches. The spinner duo Ashwin and Axar are the key components for the Indian team who gave their best throughout the series. Daniel Lawrence was the highest scorer for England in the second inning as he played an inning of 50-runs.

For England, Stokes played an outstanding part with bat and bowl both. He scored a half-century in the first inning then picked 4 wickets in India’s first inning. However, he could not manage to survive in the second inning and got dismissed just for 2 runs. England skipper Joe Root also unable to get more runs against the spinners in the series after the first match where he scored 200+ runs in the first inning.

Ravi Ashwin won the man of the series award for his brilliant bowling performance. He also achieved many feats in the series and is the highest wicket-taker for India.
